Smart Mobility
Hype Cycle for Connected Vehicles and Smart Mobility, 2019
There are three important take-aways from the 2019 Hype Cycle. The first is that micromobility, a technology that is new on the cycle, has been so swift in its impact and fast in its implementation that it may zoom through the cycle in record time.
The second is that such a large number of automotive technologies are in the Trough of Disillusionment. The most well-known of these technologies is autonomous vehicles, which has shown many of the classic signs of being in the Trough.
Finally, connected vehicles are becoming more mainstream, and some of the technologies underpinning the shift toward a dynamic value vehicle from a static one are starting to mature. Gartner is forecasting 255 million on the road in 2020 worldwide.
